Shelli's Turkey Day Wine Picks

You may have guessed that I LOVE wine! Well, I especially love pairing wine with food. If you've ever attended one of my wine classes, you know how fun it is to taste how the food compliments and often changes the wine. There are such things as the perfect pairing or a classic pairing, but when you are attempting to cover an entire dinner such as Thanksgiving, it can be daunting. So, I'm here to help! P.S., I also sell the wine selections I'm listing so stop in and stock up for your Turkey Day.

Brilliant rose gold in color, the Rosé Brut sparkling wine opens with soft notes of watermelon, kiwi and a beautiful yeasty quality that invites you in. The palate is elegant, with cherry, floral, and a creamy texture that has a bright finish.

Bodet-Herold, Physis Millesme Extra Brut, Loire Valley, 2018

Bone-dry, energetic, and zesty blend of 90% Chenin Blanc and 10% Grolleau. Crisp, lemony, and floral, with a sultry earthiness.

Maison Saleya, Rosé, Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence, 2021

Brilliant light pink color. Intense scents of raspberries, strawberries and redcurrants with hints of grapefruit and a bright, floral finish. Fresh and lively on the palate with complex red berry and citrus flavors and a lovely, fruity, rounded finish.

This mouth-watering rosé offers delicate strawberry and raspberry aromas on the nose. Light, crisp, and bone-dry on the palate.

DeLille Cellars, Chaleur Blanc, Columbia Valley, 2021

Beautiful pale-yellow color with hints of green and aromas of golden hay, grapefruit, and a whisper of tropical fruit. Alluring aromas of forest floor, chocolate mint and savory baked brioche. Fresh white peach fruit flavors combine with thyme on the palate, with a wonderful round presence.

ILLAHE Vineyards, Viognier, Willamette Valley, 2021

Aromas of lilac, honeydew melon, sweet pea, clover, and, of course, white peach dance in the glass. On the mouth, the tiniest hint of sweetness mingles with pumice, poppin’ acidity and clean finish.

Famille Richel, La Combelle Jacquère, Apremont France, 2020

Floral and aromatic notes of honeysuckle and citrus on the nose. Mineral, straightforward and crisp palate, highlighted by flavors of citrus.

Mason, Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley, 2021

Aromas of citrus, fig and peach. The bright, refreshing palate offers grapefruit and minerality with a creamy mouthfeel of lime and citrus flavors. This wine is a stunner with extraordinary mouthfeel and texture.

Croix de Bonpas, Côtes du Rhone-Villages, Rhône 2020

60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre. Plush, polished oak and heady spice on the nose, while the textured palate is rich with lush damson fruit.

Joleté Wines, Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, 2020

A limited-production cuvée blended from 100% Chehalem Mountains fruit located in Oregon's famed Willamette Valley. Aromatics of cherry and black raspberry, with a touch of spicy black pepper. It finishes with a gentle tannic grip and a late touch of espresso.

Wrath, San Saba Vineyard Pinot Noir, Monterey, 2019

Deep and full-flavored, the 2020 San Saba Pinot Noir has aromas of spice box with flavors of blackberry fruit and cherry cola along with a pleasing earthiness and acidity that knits everything together in a wonderful glass of wine.

Domaine La Fourmone, Le Fauquet Gigondas, Rhone, 2020

Aromas of red fruits, raspberries and pomegranates. The tannins are elegant with a long, minty and fruity finish.

Smooth and creamy yet firm enough for good grip, this is a big but well-balanced wine that offers plenty of ripe berries and plums along with hints of black pepper and sage.
